Show Times

Hello everyone! The show has been running great this year. I’ve already seen bus loads of youth groups, school kids, families, etc all enjoying the lights. I think the record so far this year is 7 cars lined up in a row. I’m glad everyone is enjoying the lights so much.

If you were curious the show runs on weekdays from 5:30pm – 9:00pm and weekends from 5:30 – 10:00pm. Since we added some new channels this year I haven’t put all the old songs up yet, and I won’t until I can add the new channels into the old programs. Since we have so many songs now, I’m limiting the shows to 4-5 songs in a row, and the songs will change every couple of nights. Please check back to see if you’ve missed anything as we get toward Christmas.

I wanted to (and still might) get Santa to pass out candy canes on the day before Christmas Eve. Stay tuned for that, as I’ll make a post if I can arrange it.

Enjoy the show and we hope to hear from everyone soon.

Show starting

The light show is scheduled to start tomorrow! In the next few days I’ll be putting up a track list, times, and some more information on the show. I’ve been sick for the past 5 days, so not all the songs are configured for the new setup but they will be soon. I also haven’t setup my voice intro, or promoted this website yet. It’s coming together, even if it’s a little late this year. I hope everyone enjoys the new lights and songs. Leave my family a note, it makes our day!

I see cars lining up now. See everyone soon.

It’s coming together

The hard part is over. The gutter and roof LED’s are up as well as the Mega tree. You’ll see a re-designed tree on the left. The cat is partially out of the bag now. Just wait and see what it does! The windows and window frames are complete as well as the green tree. The ladders can be put away now. Time for all the small things as well as adding some new features this year. I’ve been busy all day soldering in my workshop. Thanksgiving is fast approaching. I gotta keep working.

The hard part is over. Now for all the small stuff

Santa brought a present early

Santa delivered a tad early today. He dropped off another 16 channel controller which increased my show capacity by 1/3! I have a special surprise on a new show piece that everyone will love. I can’t wait to show it off. I just have a few more programs to write to control it. Check back soon and I may even show you a sneak peak.

Lights are almost all up

We’ve spent the past two weekends around here putting up lights. This is usually a 3 day project, but we’ve added a new special treat this year that has added another half day to the schedule. You will see it soon enough, and I know everyone will love it.

Additionally, I’ve gotten tired of spending hundreds of dollars on big extension cords, so after some research I’ve purchased a spool of SPT2 wire. This wire will handle 10 amps each, and as long as I’m not doing huge strands of incandescent, everything will work fine. It has become apparent how important switching to an all LED show will become in the future. I’ve also ordered another controller bringing my total up to 48 channels. I hope to add another one next year for a total of 64 channels.

I’m currently on the hunt for some red, green, and blue LED rope lights. I’ve had no luck finding any yet. If you find some locally let me know.

We plan on lighting the show the day after Thanksgiving as usual. Crunch time! Only a few more weeks till Christmas.

Christmas is coming

Christmas is coming and I’m LATE programming this years song. I have to say, if I get this one done in time it’s going to be awesome! I hope to add at least 2-4 songs this year, and if I do I’ll probably alternate songs by the day. The show is getting kind of large, and you can now sit for more than 20 minutes watching the songs. If I rotate days, I can keep the shows to 10 minutes which should keep the cars moving.

I’m also considering installing a donation box this year to support the research and treatment of brain cancer. Specifically, the brain cancer that took my 38 year old cousin from this world in 2011. We miss him greatly, and he never got to see these lights in person (only on video). I have a few logistical items to work out, but I hope to get this accomplished soon.

See everyone sooner than you think!
